Urban road traffic noise monitoring, mapping, modelling, and mitigation: A thematic review

Abstract This article analyses the most recent studies on urban traffic noise. About 67 relevant articles road noise and its mitigation strategies were preferred for a critical review. Only 5.97% of items describe how to monitor record measurement roads, while 7.46% enumerated pollution exposure. 29.85% proposed model evaluate reduction effects predict level. Also, many reported map generation analysis. 56.71% described in detail, concerning control by green vegetation, land use planning, low tire pavement material, through façade shielding. Noise standards are being breached all areas. There is need proper implementation rules regulations. Therefore, such as designing barriers other materials needed. Finally, it summarized that economic low-cost optimized like ingeniously made barriers, vegetation landscaping hour areas developing countries.
